Theatre: "Platanos and Collard Greens"
Play captivates audiences in New York City and at universities around the country Ever been in, considered being in, or observed an interracial relationship? Platanos and Collard Greens is an Off Broadway play that has captivated audiences of more than 150,000 both in New York City and at over 150 colleges and universities around the country. Hip hop, humor and satire incorporated The play tells the story of two college students, Freeman, an African American man, and Angelita, a Latino woman, who confront racial issues, stereotypes, and prejudices. The play incorporates hip hop, humor, and satire. The play was written by David Lamb and produced by Summer Hill Seven. The New York Times calls it "A modern day West Side Story...has developed a huge following among people who come to see it again and again."
